The fact that the thing he gives himself is a meal with Song Hwa is absolutely killing me. He overworks himself with lectures and surgeries and is an overall great person who does a lot for others, but for himself he doesn’t have any hobbies or , he just wants to eat with Song Hwa.
That’s what she means to him. She’s the kind of important that she’s the first person to call when his son is in the middle of a fever and he needs to run. Not jun wan, his long-time friend. Not jeong wan, the pediatrics specialist. The rain meal rituals are something shared between only the two of them and they take care of each other well.
Others have hobbies which are luxuries in spare time for doctors. Even without hobbies, some decide to be alone when they aren’t working. Ik Jun decides to spend his spare time with Song Hwa. That says a lot, doesn’t it?
Edit: he’s been reaching out to her more and more since he got divorced. maybe the gap was intentionally created before, and now ik jun is trying to intentionally close it.
I don’t think these two have let go of their feelings for each other since med school. Call me crazy, but I actually think this ship will sail.

if you try to wake up early but still sleep in late sometimes, make big lists but can’t seem to complete many things, make art even though you have a habit of comparing yourself, study very hard because you want good grades, workout despite hating your body, try to be positive even though you’re going through a tough time, or try to change your ways and improve yourself even though you failed many times before…I see you. I know you’re doing your best and i’m proud of you. here’s a sign to keep going, it will be worth it.
